1. Website New Look

This website has been completely revised and updated. St. Vladimir Institute is a multi-purpose facility and serves the needs of a variety of individuals and group of users. This has been considered in the new layout of the website. It is hoped that whatever your needs are you will be able to quickly find the information you are looking for.

2. Student Residence Fees

The 2008-2009 academic year fees for student residence can be found under Vlad's Residence Life. Check them out and book!

3. Lifelong Learning - Blueprint for the Future Programming

St. Vladimir Institute (SVI) is a multi-purpose facility and as such it could be looked at in terms of two core businesses - student residence and a community centre.

Findings from recent reviews, focus groups and reports have highlighted potential improvements in current operation. These reviews and studies grouped SVI's membership, students and users in terms of waves of immigration, (1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th waves) and ages of learning (1st - education, 2nd - career and family, 3rd - retirement)

SVI's management recognizes that in order to continue fulfilling its purpose of preserving, sharing and celebrating the best aspects of Ukrainian - Canadian heritage and achievements, an institution such as SVI must keep step with new trends and demands in both the Ukrainian - Canadian and the community at large.

It's for this reason that SVI has embarked on a whole new way of developing and delivering programs that may interest these groups of people. At the heart of this initiative is a proposal to develop the Community Centre component programs that will enhance lifelong learning principles including:
  • learning is a lifetime experience;
  • providing opportunities for older adults by developing and offering educational activities designed to enhance and enrich lives;
  • offering a range of courses and the levels at which they are pitched, providing choices for those who wish to further pursue earlier fields of study, as well as those who wish to explore and learn new fields of learning that may previously have been denied to them;
  • spreading the learning across a diversity of learning experiences and learning environments including classes, workshops, forums, guest speakers, visits to industries, galleries, theatres, concerts, places of cultural and national interest;
  • associating with local Universities in pursuit of areas of common interest
  • in addition to the general programs in humanities and sciences, offering those specifically related to quality of life and well-being;
  • importance is attached to social activities which, in addition to their interest content, enable members to meet fellow members.

We are planning an exciting program for the upcoming educational year and encouraging members and others to take part in some or all of our program items.
