| St. Vladimir Institue's 40th Anniversary |

The Institute marked its 40th anniversary Oct. 25, 2003 with a gala banquet that attracted more than 275 members, supporters and representatives of other Ukrainian organizations in Canada.
"The Institute occupies a special place in the hearts of many Canadians of Ukrainian descent and that affection was very evident by the large and enthusiastic turnout for the anniversary celebration," said Darusia Masnyk, chair of the Institute's 40th anniversary organizing committee.
The evening's program was marked by an absence of formal speeches. Instead, guests were treated to a dazzling multi-media entertainment program produced by Taras Shipowick. Co-hosted by former Institute presidents Alla Shklar and Boris Balan, the program presented a colourful and frequently humorous retrospective of 40 years of community life at St. Vladimir's.
Members of the Academy Dance Ensemble, under the direction of Danovia Stechishin, opened the program with a dramatic and colourful welcome procession.
Organizers used the occasion of the 40th anniversary gala to honour four individuals who played a significant role in the development and growth of the Institute. Honoured were: the Hon. John Yaremko, Ann Figus-Ralko, William Kereliuk and Taras Shipowick.
"I cannot say enough about the tremendous contributions and personal sacrifice each of these individuals have made to our organization. The outstanding reputation St. Vladimir Institute enjoys in the full Ukrainian-Canadian community today would not have been possible without the dedication of these four leaders," said Gregory Hamara, former president of St. Vladimir Institute.
