This workshop is offered in English

Learn how to design a didukh, a bundle of grain traditionally prepared by Ukrainian families as a way of honoring and bringing the ancestors to the table during the winter holiday season. The didukh symbolizes harvest, prosperity and our ancestors. The word didukh literally means “grandfather” and “spirit”.

Before the Christmas tree was popularized, the didukh was considered to be one of the most important symbols during winter holidays and was traditionally placed in the most prominent location to decorate the home. Didukhy symbolize the household's wish for an abundance of nature and a bountiful harvest for the upcoming year.
