Eclectic Ukrainian Art Exhibit

The Ukrainian Student and Alumni Collective (USAC) at OCAD University invites you to attend their inaugural exhibition and auction, titled "Eclectic Ukrainian Futures" from October 19 to 26, 2023.

Spanning a diverse collection of 27 artworks, the exhibition brings together the creations of 18 talented artists, spotlighting the rich perspectives, creativity, and talent within the OCAD University community. While celebrating the essence of Ukrainian culture, the USAC envisions a future where Ukrainians thrive culturally, environmentally, and on the global stage.

To culminate the exhibition, a charitable auction is being hosted in partnership with the Canada Ukraine Foundation and Aid for Artists, with half of the auction's proceeds directly benefiting the fund. Attendees can enjoy live music and delectable food while experiencing the art and participating in the auction at the Closing Reception on October 26, 2023.

Galleries and collectors are encouraged to take note of this exciting opportunity to acquire unique works for a powerful cause. The Silent Auction Bidding Sheets are already posted on the exhibition's opening day, which is October 19, 2023.

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT:

Sasha Shevchenko (Instagram @lyusterko) Born in Odesa, Ukraine and living in Canada, Shevchenko always found inspiration in the hybrid functioning of the diasporic identity. Interested in revealing the way storytelling and tradition begins to shift and flow in changed settings, Shevchenko uses fleeting imagery and cultural materials to address the crucial urgency of honoring the hybrid and fragmented.

Ievgeniia Cherednikova (Instagram @ievgeniia_cherednikova_art) "I feel like I came to Canada quite recently, and yet I have been here for already the second year. In my painting process, I aim to find the loving spaces that I inhabit about Ukraine, and through my heart, I find all the things I'm grateful for. Being in Ukraine last summer, I had a chance to catch a glimpse of the beauty of Ukrainian nature, one of the subjects I am allured by."
