Join the Ukrainian Museum of Canada, Ontario Branch for their first auxiliary program for the “Sacred Straw” exhibit.

CHILDREN'S STRAW APPLIQUÉ with Olena Diachenko on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 2 PM for kids (7 - 10 yrs.) 620 Spadina Avenue.

Straw is an amazing natural material for creativity. Its golden color shows the richness of nature. Craftsmanship of straw products is thousands of years old. Roofs for houses, furniture, dishes were made from it, various interior items were decorated with it. Ukrainian craftsmen knew how to make real works of art from straw. At our master class, we will learn how to work with this unique material. All students will create their compositions - the first works of art from natural straw.

A master class is conducted by Olenka Dyachenko. She was born and lived in Kyiv until 2022. She traveled a lot throughout Ukraine, admiring the folk art of different regions. She sincerely admires works of Ukrainian art and wants to share knowledge about various creative techniques. Since October 2022, she lives in Toronto and conducts art classes for children and adults.

Spots are limited. Please call the museum at 416-923-9861 to register.
